Q: Can you travel between Yellowknife and Fort Smith?
A:You can, but you have to overnight in Hay River. You can only leave Yellowknife on Monday or Wednesday, overnight in Hay River, and continue to Fort Smith on Tuesday or Thursday. Additionally, you can depart from Fort Smith on Tuesday or Thursday, overnight in Hay River, and continue to Yellowknife on Wednesday or Friday.
Q: Can a child ride free?
A:Children from birth to 2 years (not yet reached 2nd birthday) can ride for free. However, the free child passenger is not guaranteed a seat unless the child fare is paid for. Children fares for ages 2 to 11 years are at a 25% discount.
Q: Are there senior or student fares?
A:Yes, senior and student fares are at a 10% discount. Seniors are 62 years and older. Students 12 years and up as long as they have a valid student card.
Q: How much luggage is allowed?
A:You are allowed 1 piece plus 1 carry-on. The carry-on bag must not be more than 15 lbs. or 9”x16”x20”. No luggage in excess of 50 lbs. per bag or in excess of 24”h x 24”w x45”l. The extra bag charge is $10.00 for the first bag and $20.00 for the second bag. More bags or excess weight bags will be charged as freight not luggage.
Q: How long is a ticket good for, and is there a refund policy?
A:Tickets are good for a year. Refunded tickets are calculated at fare less than 20%.
